Room

When we got there they told us that we have our room for one night and after that, they are going to upgrade us. We were really happy about that since the first room looked a bit old and dated. You saw that there had to be done quite a bit of a renovation. The second room was on the second floor and was in way better condition but the room structure itself looked the same. When you first walked into the room there was a separate toilet on the left and a little walk in closet and the bathroom on the right side. The bathroom included a shower and a bathtub which we really appreciated since it's so nice to choose whether to take a long relaxing bath or a quick refreshing shower, whatever mood you are in. When walking a bit more into the room you see a really cute canopy bed, a little table to store your laptop or makeup (since it's perfect for making yourself ready in the evening because it's next to a plug and a has a mirror). One of the best parts of the rooms is the little balcony. It has it's own little seating area which is perfect to watch a sunset or just relax with a nice glass of wine (Do yourself a favor and don't try the bottle of wine they gift you as a welcome present since it tastes like a really sugary water). It also comes in handy that the balcony has a little roof since Mauritius sometimes comes with some unpredictable rain.

Facility

The hotel has its own little lagoon with a waterfall and a sailing boat in it. It's perfect if you don't like to swim in the deep sea or just want to refresh yourself without the chance of getting your hair wet since it's not very deep. Around that lagoon and ongoing to the beach of the sea there are a lot of little "love nests". Those are perfect for sunbathing together with your partner and don't be disturbed by the discussions or just the appearance of the other guests. The nests contain either one daybed or two little sunbeds. Additionally, they contained a huge beanbag. This was the most perfect way to read a book or just work on your tan since it's more comfortable than every sunbed you'll ever be on!
We never had the problem of not finding a free nest but if you want the best ones I wouldn't go there very late since the best always get occupied at the beginning. Luckily we didn't see the "German way" of putting the towels on there at six o'clock in the morning and not turning up until 12.
Our favorite pool of the hotel was the infinity pool. We usually went there during the sunset since the sun shone there the longest, the pool was heated and most of all because it has the most amazing view over the sea to watch the romantic sunset.
The hotel also has a pool in front of the reception and main restaurant area but we never used it since we preferred the infinity pool or the sea since the water in Mauritius is truly amazing. The colour of the sea has this incredibly turquoise tone but if you like diving or snorkeling you'll be disappointed. The water isn't very clear and there are not a lot of fishes to be seen.
One of the main attraction for us was the raft in the sea. On there were two sunbeds and it was really close to the beach. It's perfect to tan there since there is only water around you which reflects the sun for a faster tan.

Restaurant

After crushing over the beautiful hotel there has to be mentioned the one downside we found. The food. The restaurant had three restaurants for the evening. The main restaurant, the beach restaurant for seafood and an Asian restaurant. For the beach and the Asian restaurant, you have to make a reservation and sadly they only once had a seat for us at the beach restaurant.
The main restaurant was where they also served the breakfast which had everything you expect in a hotel breakfast. In the evening they had a small carte which didn't change. The tuna was really good but with the other dishes, we had quite a few problems. The beef was not tender and once the fish wasn't really cooked through which led to a lot of stomach ache. The offered to bring another dish but after eating a raw fish you can probably understand that the appetite was gone. A really nice gesture of the hotel was that they saw that one of us had it's birthday so they brought a surprise birthday cake during the first night.
We never tried the Asian restaurant but the seafood restaurant at the beach was truly amazing since everyone had it's own little "cabinet" which was right above the sea.
The beach restaurant for lunch seemed to have a completely another cook. The food there was way better. We especially were thrilled about the ribs with barbeque sauce and the tuna. The chicken skewers were great as well but the portion was ok for a woman but definitely too small for a man. The card also had to offer sandwiches, salads, skewers and some typically Mauritian food which we didn't try since we don't really enjoy Indian food and the dishes all included a lot of curry and rice. We should mention that the card for lunch changes once per week and if you really love something (like the ribs for example) you should take them as long as you can before they vanish them from the card :D)
We once had our lunch in the main building bar. Even though the bar looked so nice it was probably the worst pizza we ever had. It was a seafood pizza but the seafood on it didn't seem very fresh...

One of the great things the hotel offers is a candlelight dinner at the beach. You have to make a reservation because they are only on Tuesday and Thursday. It was such a nice experience because from the bread in a heart shape to the desert it was just lovely. There is a menu but for each course, except the desert, you could choose between two dishes. Because the desert was with coconuts and we both don't really like this flavor they even made us something else. In the end, they kindly gave us a little gift package with cookies to take to our room. We really recommend arranging one of those dinners because it's really romantic and something to remember.

Staff

The staff in the hotel was overall really nice. They are all extremely friendly but sometimes they didn't really understand English or French. Often when they didn't quite understand what we meant they only nodded and smiled instead of asking

Price to performance ratio

The price was good for the performance you got. Since we booked half board we only know about the prices of the lunch food and even though the food prices were probably really high for Mauritian standards, for Europeans they were really pleasant.

Season

We traveled to Mauritius at the end of July. The weather was extremely agreeable because the temperatures were not too high. Sadly it rained on two days but even while raining, the temperatures kept being warm enough to be in a bikini.

Finally, we can conclude that the hotel really is a beautiful and romantic place to go on holiday with your loved one. If you aren't too picky about the food or if you book the two special restaurants early enough to have a bit more diversion with your dinner, you'll love it there. As you can see on the photos the hotel represents itself in such a stunning setting that you won't forget.
